OUR PROGRAMMES

DISCOVER™ - Young womens leadership programme

discover-logo

The Wellington YWCA is committed to helping young women develop into leaders who can inspire and positively influence those around them.

The DISCOVER™ programme helps build confident young women who have the skills to realise their own potential, as well as inspiring and influencing others around them.

The DISCOVER™ programme works with young women in Years 12 and 13 over an 18 month period. These young women have the opportunity to be mentored by women in the local community. Mentors offer practical assistance and actively encourage mentees to broaden their horizons, embrace new challenges, set and achieve goals.

Click here for the information card about the DISCOVER™ programme.

Second Chance Education and Research

The Wellington YWCA actively supports the work of New Horizons for Women Trust (of which we are a nominating body). The Trust administers over twenty national awards annually to women for second chance education, research on women and for projects promoting peace. In 2007 we sponsored and assisted with the awards ceremony in Wellington.

Other work we have undertaken includes the re-design and content development of the Trust’s website (soon to be launched) and assistance with production of the bi-annual newsletter, Aspire.
